These are the fruits of the Western Kidneyberry. The Western Kidneyberry is native to northeastern Brazil. This 'fruit' tree is distributed worldwide in dry tropical areas. It is grown on plantations or extensively in agroforestry systems.

Dark chocolate has a cocoa solids content of at least 38 %. In addition to cocoa butter, chocolate contains vegetable fats.
