Like pizza, pasta and ice cream, panini is one of the most famous specialties of Italian cuisine. They are sandwiches made with thin slices of ciabatta or other high-quality white bread specific to the region. That's why in Italy you can find ciabatta, focaccia, michetta or baguette. As a filling, you can taste the typical Italian prosciutto, tomato, lettuce, mozzarella or other Italian cheese, of course, but also salami mortadella, pancetta (unsmoked bacon), salsiccium (sausage). Fresh basil or basil pesto should not be missing either!

Typically, they are prepared on a fire, contact grill or baking tray, which gives them a very tasty crust.
